Meet the Shackell Pianos Team

Shackell Pianos relies on a core base of skills from numerous technicians but the main people involved in restoring your quality piano would be:

Jeffrey Shackell
Jeff is the managing director of Shackell Pianos Ltd and responsible for making it happen on a daily basis.  Jeff's duties vary from sales to maintaining the showroom stock, carrying out action assembly work, regulating, tuning and voicing and directing the concert hire department.  Any spare time is spent sleeping!  Jeffrey is the chief technical officer for Duet Finance and Leasing and has overall responsibility for the service care of the stock of Steinway and Yamaha pianos at the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.  In rare days off work Jeff can be found working on his 100 year old Burrell Traction Engine!

Paul Mildren
Paul has been working with Jeff for over 30 years and is a close associate technician and friend.  His range of skills vary from tuning, regulating and voicing to soundboard repairs and full casework refinishing.  Paul is a key member of the Duet team and will be found working in the RNCM and RSAMD during the summer service weeks.  Paul's interests and skills are varied and in his spare time he enjoys nothing more than time away in his Devon hideaway property.

Clive Ackroyd
Clive has held the current position of Head of Piano Technical Services at the Royal Academy of Music in London for 8 years and was previously the Technician at the Royal College of Music, London for 14 years. He has extensive experience in working with concert artists and on performance standard pianos. His experience covers the spectrum of piano work from concert tuning and voicing through to fully re-building pianos.   Clive is a valued member of the Duet servicing team and someone who contributes greatly to the Shackell Pianos combination.

Administration

Ann Shackell
Ann has control of the general purse strings and administration for the smooth running of Shackell Pianos Ltd.
